Vamo simulation. Real world battery test


The guys here http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/vamo/355592-vamo-battery-thread-16.html were wondering about the performance of the VAMO e-cig with 1 28650 battery or with 2 18350 stacked.
I have some Efest batteries from the last test and awsum140 measured some current consumptions for me.
So we created a "vape" simulation with both batteries, it draws the same power that the Vamo uses during vaping for 5 seconds and rests for 25 seconds. All that to simulate the actions of the user while using it. It's like chain vaping until the battery reaches the 3.3 cut off voltage. (we didn't use the 2.750V cut off since users tend to recharge the batteries at 3.3V)

The 18650 gave us 250 puffs both times. Continuous vaping for 2 hours

The stacked 18350 gave us 477 puffs (?!?) the first time and 479 the second time. Continuous vaping for 4 hours

Seems like using two stacked batteries performs a lot better.

Note: the stacked 18350 batteries ran cooler than the 18650 mainly because the mod draws 1.02A at 7W so there was not so much stressing.

Led drivers, Joule thief

I made a few boards of joule thief's, they can be used to light up a white led with a 1,5V battery (or even less).
Here are a few pics.

They are pretty small and can fit inside small DIY flashlights etc.

Fun Project

A friend (www.moutoulos.com )sent me two pcb's and i started placing parts on them, through hole parts.
It's a RDVV PLL transmitter and a 0-30V 0-10A power supply.
You can get the pcb's yourself and assembly them, they are quite easy to build.

Fenix ARB-L2 18650 2600mAh Discharge test.

Here is an interesting battery. This is not a high drain (IMR or Li-Mn if you prefer) battery but it's protected for over currents and temperature.
The test was performed with a 1A charge current as Fenix recommends but i didn't used  the 3V cut off but the normal 2.75V.
Take a look on the temperature of this unit. On 1.92C (5A) Discharge the battery has reached 60 Celcius and the analyzer paused to let the battery cool down. The protection didn't kick in so i guess it goes further but no need to risk it.
It's a neat battery for flashlights anyway, in most cases you do not need to discharge at higher C ratings.
